Easter Sunday began in sorrow but ended in overwhelming joy. As faithful disciples discovered the empty tomb and encountered the risen Lord, despair gave way to hope, and the promise of eternal life became a living reality through the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The risen Lord appears first to Mary Magdalene near the entrance to the tomb. She appears overcome with recognition as He calls her by name.
Mary Magdalene weeps outside the tomb before stooping down to look inside, where she saw two angels sitting where Jesus “had lain” after His crucifixion.
Two angels, “one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.” They asked Mary who looked inside, “Woman, why weepest thou?” (John 20:12–13).

As the women return from the tomb, Jesus meets them; fear turns to worship as He confirms their message and sends them on (Matt. 28:8–10).
Jesus walks with two disciples on the road to Emmaus, about 7.5 miles (12 km) from Jerusalem. Along the way, He expounded the scriptures concerning Himself, causing their hearts to burn within them (Luke 24:13, 27, 32).
At Emmaus, the disciples’ “eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight” (Luke 24:31).
Jesus stands among the gathered apostles, shows His hands and feet, and brings peace to their fear and uncertainty.
Jesus invites Thomas to see and feel His wounds, transforming doubt into a direct and personal confession of faith.
Modern disciples, like Thomas, come to know the risen Lord through the witness of the Holy Ghost.
Lehi’s vision of the tree of life and the path that leads to it (1 Ne. 8). It is the same vision Nephi wanted to see for himself.
Nephi sees the same vision His father saw “by the power of the Holy Ghost …which power he received by faith on the Son of God” (1 Ne. 10:17).
Jesus’s Twelve Disciples in the New World, praying for what “they most desired; and they desired that the Holy Ghost should be given unto them” (3 Ne. 19:9).
