Isaiah’s Witness of Jesus Christ

Mary Magdalene and Jesus outside the tomb

Many Christians know Isaiah's most famous prophecies—the promised Child, the suffering servant, and the Redeemer who would bear the sins of His people. Yet these passages are often scattered throughout a book that can feel difficult to navigate.

Teachings of Isaiah: Messianic Prophecies brings together Isaiah's witness of Jesus Christ and explores these remarkable passages in their historical, scriptural, and covenant setting. By focusing on Isaiah's messianic teachings, readers can follow the prophet’s testimony of Jehovah while still seeing how these prophecies fit within the broader themes of the book.

For Christians who desire to know the Savior more deeply, Isaiah offers one of the clearest prophetic portraits of Jesus Christ found anywhere in scripture. Long before Bethlehem, Gethsemane, Golgotha, and the empty tomb, Isaiah testified of the Messiah's mission, suffering, triumph, and eternal reign.

This volume serves as both an introduction to Isaiah and a guide to the prophecies that point directly to Jesus Christ.

Why Focus on the Messianic Prophecies

Isaiah contains much more than messianic prophecy. He wrote about ancient kingdoms, political alliances, judgments, gathering Israel, the latter days, and the future redemption of Zion. These themes are important, but they can sometimes obscure Isaiah's central testimony of the Messiah for readers encountering the book for the first time.

This volume isolates Isaiah's principal prophecies concerning Jesus Christ and examines them in a clear and accessible way. The goal is not to replace the full book of Isaiah, but to provide a pathway into it by following the prophet's witness of the Savior.

Readers familiar with Passion Week: Walking with Christ to Easter Morning will discover another perspective on the same Redeemer. Passion Week follows Christ through the final days of His mortal ministry. Teachings of Isaiah looks centuries earlier to the prophecies that foretold His coming and helped prepare the world to receive Him.

About the Two Volumes

Teachings of Isaiah: Messianic Prophecies is the first of two volumes on the writings of Isaiah. While this volume focuses specifically on Isaiah’s witness of Jesus Christ, the forthcoming second volume provides a comprehensive commentary on all sixty-six chapters of Isaiah, exploring the prophet's teachings concerning the everlasting covenant, the house of Israel, Zion, the latter days, the gathering of God's people, and the Second Coming of Christ.

An earlier edition of Teachings of Isaiah: Messianic Prophecies was previously available. As work progressed on the second Isaiah volume, I recognized opportunities to significantly expand and improve the material. The earlier edition has been withdrawn and is being completely revised with new content, updated commentary, improved organization, and a new ISBN under Bible Land Images Publishing.

The revised edition is expected to be released soon.

Mary Magdalene and Jesus outside the tomb

Isaiah foresaw the suffering and triumph of the Messiah centuries before the birth of Jesus Christ. Through revelation, he witnessed the Savior's rejection, atoning sacrifice, and redeeming ministry, bearing testimony that Christ would "bear our griefs" and "carry our sorrows" (Isa. 53:4).
